Day 2 - Saturday, March 25
Four thousand spectators gathered to watch
the second round of the Red Bull Xtreme by Swatch. Clear weather made
conditions ideal for yet another incredible event. The contest was
momentarily interrupted today when Jerome Ruby from France had a serious
fall. He was fully conscious when flown out to Sion hospital for further
examination. The diagnostic of Sion hospital is that Jerome is well. He
has a concussion and a facial fracture. Winner of the first heat Eva
Sandelgard was the first to descend the Bec des Rosses. She chose the
same line as Wednesday, though not as fluid she showed excellent control.
She tackled the mountain with ease incorporating smooth turns with two
big jumps. Florian Orley's run was even better than his first. He
descended the mountain with impressive speed and control. But it was
not enough to beat Ashley Call and Axel Pauporte who shared today's
podium thanks to their very original lines accentuated by a variety
of perfectly landed jumps.
