Pow to The Bolgenschanze
jimjack@gravityfed.com
What could 7 guys from Alta want more than to wake up in a room with two bunks, filled with smelly socks and wet boots. Walk downstairs to an overdose of coffee and musli. Look across the table at the faces of guys with more content than teenage boys at the Playboy mansion.
Dan Whithey enjoying what he does For the first time in a few days all the boys decided to pass up a night in The Bolgenschanze bar for a good nights' rest and a huge serving of Swiss powder in the morning. We had enjoyed such good powder yesterday and after watching it snow all night, we knew how good it was going to be. We were out early and were eating face shots by 10:30. That's actually incredibly early for around here.
The weather has been very snowy the entire time we have been here. Which in most places in The Alps makes skiing the terrain difficult due to poor visibility. The trees of Jakobshorn here in Davos is what really makes this such a perfect place. The top of the area is above the tree line so seeing where you are going is near to impossible. We compare it to being inside a ping pong ball. But Jakobshorn has nearly 3000 vert of tree skiing. That for some reason does not get skied. Today myself, McReynolds, Grom, Withey, Adam, Ben and of course Mr. Caruso, were experiencing a taste of Alta. It was like home. In your face and in your head. We laughed lots at how good it was and the laughter only got louder when we all came to the same realization that we were not in Alta, but were here. In Davos. Getting powder with a group of good friends, laughing and loving life.
This is why we do what we do.
Have great skiing and smile!
Ski ya later. Jim, and the rest of the Swiss Alta Alpine Club
