Sketchy day of POW at Jakobshorn

WITHEY TAKES A RIDE!
Yesterday we had an epic day of powder. We spent the crystal clear morning skiing with Dan "The Rocket" Kistler and Misha. We spent the morning shooting some of the finest powder we have skied. Definitely the day we had been waiting for. But around noon we decide to take a run into the untracked goods off the backside.
Dan was trying to get across the top of a chute when he set off a wind slab that ripped snow from the rocks below him. We figure the fortunate thing was that Dan had been at the top of the slab and the majority of the snow was coming off below him. He was flushed through the chute and into the open. His skis and poles were ripped away and Dan ended up keeping himself above the surface. He was ok, but shaken slightly. I was able to locate his skis and one pole and we were skiing away knowing how lucky we had just gotten... ready for a break. We also still had another 2000 feet to go and we made sure we enjoyed every turn.
Adam Getting the Goods! Conditions are definitely sketchy out there but we have been able to enjoy the sick terrain around Jakobshorn. So many little stashes and few people venture off piste.
Today conditions are still powder in the trees but there is more snow on the way and after the big day we had yesterday we have decided to let our muscles rest.
We want everyone to know that we take all the necessary precautions when travelling off piste. The hazards are always out there and we advise taking the time to look at the conditions closely. There are very small factors that can mean the difference from avoiding an avalanche or being caught in one. Be safe out there and we will do the same.
So long from Davos. Jim, Dan and Adam
