Chasing The White Room:
It all started last winter. I was sitting around during what had become an
all too typical event the past couple of years; high pressure in the Wasatch mountain range. Assuming that other people in Alta
had gotten annoyed with the lack of fresh tracks, I formulated a plan. Alta attracts a certain kind of skier, a skier more
concerned with face shots than double shots, with snow more than sex. Life in Little Cottonwood is a roller coaster of emotions,
and when locals aren't getting quality turns people start jones'n, like it's a Betty Ford clinic at 8,500 feet. I was in the powder
mecca of the world and there was no snow, and it hit me that a road trip of epic proportions was in order. We could satisfy our
cravings in the white room, all we had to do was find it. I could get willing participants no problem, but I also needed to line up
some gear, lift tickets and the RV.
